Officially in the groove

A group picture at the Maysville Oktoberfest last month.

Hello Klaberheads,

We have several weekends under our belt and we are raring to go. We’ve built up our tolerance/annoyance to the 100-degree heat with 199% humidity. Our stomachs are adjusting to the food group known as Oktoberfest food: schnitzel, brats, pretzels, and beer.

I think one of the best things about playing across the state and country is getting to see the friends that we’ve made in each place. It’s something all of us really look forward to. Although we only see some of these Festers once a year, we pick up right where we left off.

Hopefully, you’ve seen the recaps of all our August performances on our socials. Emily has done such a great job keeping up with the social media—truly a never-ending job.

Cleveland’s Labor Day Oktoberfest has a special place in my heart for many reasons. I can’t think of a better way to spend my birthday (Sept. 1) than playing music and festing with you!

But the biggest reason: Emily got engaged during the Schnitzelbank! Right on the word Hochzeits Ring :) It’s no easy feat to catch her by surprise, but we were able to pull it off. Props to Chase for an amazing proposal! Both families were able to be a part of it which was a once-in-a-lifetime thrill for us.

We were at the capitol city this past weekend and were a part of the Opening Ceremonies of the Columbus Oktoberfest! John and Little Franz watched the Bengals game while selling merch on Sunday… In between our Columbus sandwich was a very spicy Springboro Oktoberfest. The dance floor was packed and they got an A+ for crowd participation.

We are headed to Vevay, IN for the Volksfest this weekend. This is a new festival for us and Vevay and we are honored to be a part of their inaugural year. We would love to see you come out and support this up-and-coming Fest.

Drum roll please. . .

We are super excited to be back at the ZINZINNATI Oktoberfest on Saturday, September 21 from 7-11 pm. It’s been several years and we are really pumped to bring our show back to the ‘nati! This year will be at a new location and we can’t wait to be a part of it.

The last weekend of the month we head to St. Charles, MO. This three-day festival takes place right along the River and Historic St. Charles. If you want to take a road trip this is a great one to attend.

Our show is constantly evolving and if you think you saw it all in August, you will be pleasantly surprised with the new music we continue to add, as well as new merch.

We would love to see you at any and all of these fests! Consider September your “Tour of Oktoberfests.”

We will stamp your passport with good music and an entertaining show.  Gemuetlichkeit a-plenty!

See you at the Fest,

Bandmember spotlight

Rich Begel plays the trombone, euphonium, melodica, and various auxiliary percussion for the Klaberheads. He has been in the band for around 3 years.

His favorite animal is a chicken, his favorite costume is the chicken, and his favorite dance is the chicken.

Rich has a great sense of humor and loves to take part in the horn section shenanigans with Jeff and Brian.

When he's not performing with the Klaberheads or other musical groups you can find Rich biking around or taking care of one of his many pets.
